At the beginning of June the first-year students of the
Antalya College of Tourism joined the rest of those who have
already been busy with the summer training work. They are
doing their first work experience in the largest 5-star
hotels in Turkey. The administration of the College visits
the students regularly to help them in their work
adaptation.
The students work in different departments at the hotels: in
guest relations, reception, house-keeping, as restaurant
staff etc.
We met the students in the 5-star hotel “Barut Hotels Lara
Beach & Spa” located a short distance from the College.
We can now see the first results of the students two weeks
of work:
Barış Bey, vice-chief of reception department of the hotel
says: “I’m in tourism for about 12 years and I’ve never met
such a good probationer as Mary Batulina. She is eager to
learn all the details of her job. She is very well prepared
in the College.”
By the way, Mary Batulina and Vladimir Uisimbayev, both
speaking English and Turkish fluently, have begun studying
German. There are a lot of tourists from Germany in Antalya
and students want to speak with them in their native
language.
Nariman Dzhumagulov is highly qualified by the chief of
animation department (Entertainment division) as a very
capable and creative student.
We asked the students to tell us about their first
impression on the work.
Nurlan Fazleddenov, works as a waiter in the main restaurant
of the hotel: “It was rather difficult from the very
beginning. Now I am used to waking up early in the morning.
As for my job it is not as simple as it may seem at first
sight. It is necessary to remember a lot of important
details.” The head waiter is satisfied with his job very
much and is sure that Nurlan will make a success in his
future career.
A bit later we met the general manager of the Barut hotel.
He is sure that a good specialist should learn all the
peculiarities of each department in the hotel. These first
steps in the career are very important for young people.
“Now we pay special attention to their attitude to the job,
analyze their abilities, personal characteristics. We hope
that after a short period of time they will graduate from
the College and come to work at our hotel as high-qualified
specialists.”
